Exercise Tips for Celebrating Women’s Health & Fitness Day!

This year National Women’s Health & Fitness Day will be held on September 30 as part of the newly established National Women’s Health & Fitness Week celebrated during this last week of September.

The goal of the event is to promote health awareness and the importance of regular physical activity in women’s lives. Looking and feeling your best begins with taking care of yourself from the inside out. Proper nutrition and regular exercise can help you feel great every day. Try these exercise tips to celebrate the day and set yourself up for a healthy autumn:

  • Set a realistic goal. Many women approach exercise as an all-or-nothing event. Be kind to yourself. If you are just getting started, try for a couple of exercise session a week. If you are already a regular exerciser, set yourself a new goal, like an upcoming race to encourage yourself to stay active.
  • Do something fun. Exercise is meant to get your body moving. If you hate cycling, don’t do it. Find something you love – walking the dog, gardening, running, hiking. If you enjoy it, you will likely stick with it.
  • Workout with a friend. The buddy system works for keeping you accountable and making your workouts more fun. You’ll be much more likely to keep your workout date if you agreed to meet your friend for it.
